AI SEO checklist
A practical guide for businesses that want to use AI for SEO without turning their blog into a pile of generic drafts. Use it before you plan keywords, write articles or publish programmatic pages.
What needs to be in place
Business context
- [ ] Define your ideal customer, the areas you serve, your tone, your offer and the words you actually use when selling.
- [ ] Separate commercial, informational, comparison and problem keywords before you write briefs.
- [ ] Write down your services, use cases, objections and the internal links every article needs.
Research and calendar
- [ ] Prioritize keywords with clear intent, not just volume.
- [ ] Assign each keyword to an existing page, a new article or a future batch of programmatic pages.
- [ ] Plan a realistic frequency: publishing a little, consistently, beats publishing a lot once.
Writing with AI
- [ ] Give the AI context about your business before asking for titles, briefs or drafts.
- [ ] Ask for structure, local examples, FAQs, a meta description and internal links from the first draft.
- [ ] Flag risky content for human review before it's published.
Checks before publishing
- [ ] Check the title, H1, intent, canonical, length, links and duplication against similar pages.
- [ ] Confirm the page answers a specific search and doesn't read like a generic template.
- [ ] Make sure images, alt text and metadata are ready to share.
Measure and improve
- [ ] Submit your sitemap and key URLs to Search Console when the site is new.
- [ ] Review impressions, CTR, average position and the pages getting traffic every month.
- [ ] Update articles sitting in positions 4–20 before writing ten new ones.
The publishing rule
Don't publish pages generated at scale until you've proved your site can render, link, submit and index normal content. Validate one article first, then a small batch, and only then scale up.
